I am always first up, and both Toby and Pumpkin have enjoyed the mornings with me since they first joined us. Both have been a bit needy because when I travel, they lose their mornings. ( You can tell from this table that teenage boys live here.)
When I first get up, Pumpkin greets me at my bedroom door and verbally reminds me that there is no time to waste. We go to the kitchen, and she gets a snack in a stainless steel bowl on the table where my younger son does his gaming (computer use is in common areas of our house with screens facing away from the wall). She gets breakfast with the other two kitties (Max and Kirby) later, but she really doesn’t eat it because she hates them.
I walk the treadmill, make coffee, and give Toby his breakfast. Pumpkin just kind of stays in my orbit during all of this. I sit outside and drink coffee while Toby eats his breakfast because he does not like to eat without me there. Eventually, Pumpkin will wait by the front door to go outside (she goes in and out the dog door all the time, but for some reason in the morning she wants to be let out). Then she goes outside and poops in the same spot in the front yard.
You see, Pumpkin refuses to use the litter box. She also would never defile her home. So she insists on doing her business outside - we finally got rid of the untouched litter box. This is Mrs. IM’s favorite Pumpkin behavior.
The white panel you see is a steel security panel that screws on to the dog door. Both Pumpkin and Toby like it best in the summer when it gets light early and the mornings are cool and pleasant. The like it when I spend more time drinking coffee outside in the mornings. As you have seen from other photos, Pumpkin likes to survey us from the roof.
She just likes to be around her people, and she is attached to me. She is a very strange cat, but wonderfully so. She never knew a kitty for a mother because her litter was found with their eyes still closed and they were hand raised and dropper fed.
I bought this to try for Toby yesterday. He has been on the anti-inflammatory for a few days, and while there has been improvement, he is still limping. Let me know if there are any products that have helped your dog. I have cut his diet per the vet’s instructions, so we will see how that goes.
I guess I should throw something vehicular into this post. You see, part of the routine is killing time on Oppo while I hang out with my pals and drink coffee. It is a really nice part of my day. I hope you all have a good day. Here’s some sunshine if it is cold and dark where you are:
Keep safe out there, and hang on to the ones you love.

Cool. It’s nice you have a routine and Pumpkin and Toby get some time with you and you, them.
Some people look down on routine as being boring, etc... but routine doesn’t rule out spontaneity. Routine gives your life structure, be it time alone or time with close friends, etc...
Especially having that time in the morning, it allows your body and mind to do, say, a controlled start, like turning on the computer, letting the computer go through it’s processes, getting it ready for use.
I can't think of having a better routine than spending it with a couple animals.

All of our computers are in the living room. It gets annoying at times when I’m trying to watch TV and they are playing Fortnite, but I won’t have it any other way.

mine is in the living room... but its really just a bonus that down here i can keep an eye on what shes up to
it mostly got moved down here coz i gets lonely in the puter room... its now an art room
now her i pad no longer being allowed upstairs is absolutely so we can keep somekinda eye on what she’s up too... (and coz if it was allowed upstairs she’d only come down for food and lock herself in her room the rest of the day)
